I have found some really nice LEDs which produce great and pleasant light . They are for domestic bathrooms and are waterproof very shallow etc.

Problem is that they shut off at anything less than 12.7v and are dim at less than 14v.

I have a 12v system. Is there an easy way to get say 15v out of this, or as an alternative take 24v from the house bank which is made up of 12v batteries in parallel....

is the electronics that does the conversion (iirc leds want specific mA, not V) exposed or hidden inside the fixture?
would be an option to find another converter that will feed the necessary mA from your 12V system.
mind a buck converter (dc-dc) would probably be cheaper but wouldn't be happy to have them permanently on one.

Just ordered a 12v to 24v ( 15 quid on amazon..)converter. Had not thought of that...I have a few 24v strip LEDs also so I'll run a separate 24v line for these, only powered up when needed and have a look at how these all operate.

Thanks for replies...

In parallel it is still 12v..................................

What frequency is it operating at? You don't want to ruin VHF reception every time you switch the lights on.

Yes I know that....
But in series it would be 24v so the question is can I get 24v and 12v at the same time.....I suspect with judicious use of diodes it may be possible....
No it is not possible to maintain a 12v total battery from 2 x 12v batteries in parallel but still extract 24v by use of diodes. The positives and negatives must be hard wired together for 12v parallel . You have to disconnect these connections to connect one positive to another negative to get 24v. Just not possible with diodes. ol'will
