Hello,

I decided to apply a simple test to my house batteries, i.e. disconnect one at a time & leave isolated for 24 hours whilst using the other two.

After sitting quietly on it's own for 28 hours the single battery has a reading of 12.96 volts, when disconnected it was reading close to the float voltage - 13.7 volts.I don't recall seeing above 12.8 after this length of time & wonder if this "high" voltage indicates a problem. The meter reads accurately according to the digital battery monitor.

Hopeful thanks.

Depends on battery type, but a normal lead acid battery has a different fully charged voltage through it's life span.

When you fit a new battery, the full charge voltage will rise in time and can be around 13.1 volt, while as it gets older this will drop again to around 12.7 / 12.8 volt. One of the problems with what is a fully charged battery for battery monitors.
