Those batten boxes are now obsolete,if you don’t have the wedges for them you have nothing to hold the batten in place .
The sail isn’t in the best shape and the leech and foot could be altered to get the dimensions you want .
Ideally recutting the luff and fitting new batten boxes might be the...
Re post 28 No it’s not a description of post 34 .I will find a pic and post it later..Basically the lower slides are on a loose lacing not attached to the sail . When the luff is taut .The lacing line holds the slides to the mast .When the halyard is lowered, the lacing line slacks off leaving...
Just put the lower sliders below the reefs on a lacing line through the eyelets and then thru the slides .When the luff is lowered the line slacks off leaving the slides at the gate position. You shouldn’t have to add track for that .
Remove vertical gooseneck bolt ,Try pivoting the horns fore and aft and a light oiling may help . The locating hole for the hooks is usually shaped to allow them to lean aft slightly. But bashing an aluminium casting is not the best idea and if something breaks, more expensive to deal with .
Ideally use the largest thread size V92 to sew acrylic canvas . Minimum Needle size 100 /18 or 110 to 120 / 19 .
Also acrylic canvas can be heat sealed for patching to avoid extra layers .Sew smaller patch on inside to cover damage ,then larger patch say 10mm all round then sew that on out side...
Selden do a short insert track section that we have fitted to get over this issue ,it fits in the space of the bolt rope entry and can be cut to make up the distance to the gooseneck l
Yes the newer Plastimo twin groove has much smaller hole for the bolt ropes than the old style which could easily take up to 7mm diameter.
so luff tape change requirement .
I have often found on rig checks that the original terminal staging was pulled by offset dies resulting in banana terminals.
Some different manufacturers of swaged terminal fittings have a great thickness of stainless to squeeze, which results in variations in terminal diameters.
Is that a Profurl furler .? If it is there is a little gizmo prefeeder that lips in on some of them and makes feeding in much easier.Measure bolt rope size diameter and let me know which furling gear and I can tell if you have the right bolt rope .
That luff tape will have to be replaced if...
