Thanks for the excellent advice.
Sorry i took so long to get back to a terminal but I have cleared the pipes and connexions as prompted and it seems to have done the trick. I also installed a new anode too boot.
The exhaust still steams a little but I can put up with that. The worst that...
My Bukh 20 on the Westerly konsort gives off grey smoke from the exhaust; the more power on, the more smoke. It doesn't smell of oil or fumes and appears more in the way of steam (Not sure whether it is). It seems to evaporate after it has emerged.
How do I get rid of it? it's more embarrassing...
Thank you all for your most informative replies. Julie has now baled out the bilges, allowed a free flow of air to help push any remnants away and the detector has remained silent since.
In a way, I feel better knowing that the detector operated; hopefully it'll do it next time we get a problem...
My wife phoned me yesterday to say that the gas alarm was on!! (Shock horror)
Now from Guildford it's very hard to help her when she's on the boat in Ipswich, but... We don't think we've got a leak in the system, a friend has helped her look, we think that maybe it's a build up of gas in the...
Bit of a long shot, but i'm trying to source a 32mm genoa car for my Westerly konsort. The original one is made by Spinlock (labelled that way anyhow!) and has a squared off (Ally looking) design, the pulley being about an inch wide, 1 3/4" diameter.
I have managed to find an old Lewmar one...
The headsheet pulleys, the ones on the track either side of my boat are brittle; that should read... one of them was brittle, it's in little bits now!
The boat is a Westerly Konsort and being as they've been in place since 1983, I can't say I'm surprised that they need replacing.
So... Can you...
Preparing to get our westely Konsort across to Ostend from Woolverstone at Spring break (weather permitting), but it'll be the first time for a journey of this magnitude for us (Crew of two... SWMBO and me).
Any advice would be most welcome, what we should be taking, what precautions we can put...
On my westerly Konsort, the kicking strap pulley system is attached to the boom via a length of rigging wire. This failed during a particularly violent accidental jibe (well, I'm still learning how to sail and get it qwrong every now and then).
Is the foot length of wire actually needed, or can...
I'll pull the sender out when i get back to the boat on thursday and give it a bit of a scrub, see what happens. Hopefully it will work after that
Cheers
Steve
The stowe depth sounder on my boat works most of the time, but when i really need it, like going slow in shallow water entering a marina, it starts flashing at me. according to the booklet it means the transponder isn't working, or some such. Occasionally it registers '0m' on switch on and won't...
I've got a small scrape in the gel coat on my westerly konsort, on the transom,my fault entirely (slight mooring problem). It';s about 2" x 1" and an eigth" deep.
What is the best way of repairing this and trying to get a decent colour match?
please give me as much detail as to the process as i...
That y sheet has tried to decapitate me one time too many! It's got to go!
I have an idea to fix a new, short, traveller, onto the hatch roof. Set up the pulley system onto a new eye on the boom then run the sheet back into the pit through a couple of pulleys and into a locking clamp...
For the past month, Julie, I and Tigger Too (Our Westerly Konsort) have been based at Woolverstone...
We need the facilities, showers etc, but will have to move on as summer approaches (Hopefully there will be a summer!)
What reccomendations can you give?
Nb we need to be in the local area...
