I can confirm that the genoa tracks are tapped into ally plates, as are the deck winches, stoppers, etc. Whether the screws come out easily will depend on whether they were coated in sealant or something else suitable on assembly. Removing and replacing them does seem a lot of work. The genoa...
You first need to determine if the problem is noise being introduced by the wind instrument into the DC supply feeding both; or whether it is radiated interference from one instrument to the other. Another cause could be that the transducer cables to the two instruments run very close together...
Precisely. If OP insists on charging the starter battery from the PV, then the VSR should be transferring the charge to the house bank once the starter battery voltage has risen.
Another problem can be that once all batteries are fully charged, if there is very little drain on the batteries...
YES, precisely the same symptoms as OP with the starter on my BUKH20 a few years ago. Voltage drop at engine battery was massive, even with brand new battery, indicating that current draw was far too great. (Engine would indeed just manage to start with house bank also in parallel).
It was...
One slight issue to be aware of is that if the diesel level in the tank when full is HIGHER than the heater, then occasionally I find that diesel can leak past the pump. This does not really cause a big problem, but results in lots of smoke and 'howling' next time it is used until the excess...
This is a perpetual problem with every engine (and gearbox) I have ever owned ...marine, garden, or whatever. Not one has had clear instructions on how the dip-stick should be inserted for measurement. In most cases the difference (screwed in/rested on top) is greater than the difference...
You should do the check AFTER fitting the plug at the radio end of the cable. (Fitting the plug is where any problem is most likely to be created). Just hold one meter probe against the metal plug and touch the other to the center-pin. The polarity of the leads does not matter in this case.
I am sure that is what 'third engines' meant ....the connection at the antenna.
The 10k ohm resistance check is a very useful test. It will immediately confirm that you have a good connection to the antenna AND that you don't have an accidental short anywhere. (Just in case anyone is...
I am late to the discussion, but having owned my BUKH20 for 34years since new I will make 3 observations
DO add a heavy duty press switch in series with the Stop solenoid as already suggested. The solenoid is expensive and in my case the wiring also melted with much smoke. My keyswitch was...
"Trivia On"...........
Walking around under HV lines with a fluorescent tube used to be quite popular 'fun' . The budding Engineers among us constructed resonant coils to greatly improve the range.
It was also known for people to 'extract electricity, the property of the Postmaster General'...
Paul,
Couldn't agree more about 12v. It still to this day scares me rigid whenever I see someone working on a high current DC supply (such as a car or boat) with a wedding ring on. I once saw the consequences:(
I had the same problem once on a Plastimo Atlantic cooker. It turned out there was a small felt filter in the inlet fitting, and this had become clogged with some greasy residue. Where the gunge came from I have no idea.
