    First Boat - what size?

Choose a boat which suits your needs and intended use. This will be much more important than how it looks at the dock. Someone mentioned a Swift Trawler. This one could be a good option. Planing boats are mostly affected by winds, while displacement boats are more affected by the currents. I...

    New build Princess F55 flybridge

I know I'm replying to an old comment, but have you checked inflatable fenders like Polyform or EasyStore? Some useful info here: Fendering Take Three

    Black tank sensor.

I'm using Gobius black water tank sensor. Mounted externally on the aluminium tank. On my tank 3 sensors are fitted at about 1/4, 2/4, and 3/4 level. Never had any issues.

Diesel fuel polishing system - experiences?

A centrifuge. Basically a spinning "wheel".

Diesel fuel polishing system - experiences?

No, you can not open the unit. But I have seen drawings of the internal design of the centrifuge. And as mentioned earlier, I have (unfortunately) had a one time experience of purchasing some water and dirt with the diesel, which this unit handled perfectly well, and cleaned the fuel.

Diesel fuel polishing system - experiences?

Yes, it is commercially available. See link in post 42. I bought mine from LandauUK, but not sure if they sell them anymore. There is no on/off. It runs as long as there is a fuel flow. No maintenance required, except for draining any contaminants once in a while.

Diesel fuel polishing system - experiences?

This is partly incorrect. The system I have (see post 33) is a mechanical centrifuge, which separates the clean(ed) diesel from contaminants like water, diesel bug, and so on. The contaminants will then fall down into a reservoir in the bottom part of the unit, where it can be drained.

Diesel fuel polishing system - experiences?

The main difference is that a filter can get clogged and might need replacement, but the purifier / centrifuge only needs to be drained/ checked once in a while. This is probably the reasoning Mendez was thinking about. If the options are to replace a contaminated filter or drain the...

That is the right one. Yes, I have the MFP10.

Diesel fuel polishing system - experiences?

LandauUK was not the manufacturer of the fuel purifier. I just bought mine through them. I also see they have removed the sales part from their website. I'd give them a call. Mine is the MFP10 unit, rated for a fuel flow of about 270 liters/ hour if my memory is correct.

Diesel fuel polishing system - experiences?

Based on my experience, I would go for a purifying system. Filters can get blocked at the most inconvenient times.

Diesel fuel polishing system - experiences?

It's been a few years now, so just to follow up with practical experience after installing a mechanical fuel polisher. I went with the largest version of this system, which I got from LandauUK. First for my previous boat, and then same setup with my current boat: The fuel purifier is...

    Dardanelles Strait closed

That fb video is a very good example of why separate air traffic from yachties. Firefighting planes have high enough risks when taking on water. No need to introduce more risks if the waterways can be closed for other traffic.
