Well done my friend. A small boat, single-handed is where real sailors are made. There are plenty of Yachtmasters around who have never been out there on their own .
Yes indeed, I think this OP (not that I know what an OP is !) has had his answer.
Thank you 'Me Ansomes' (Cornish you know , the Cornish we First Nation's use! )
Having found last season the brass and stainless steel main engine seacock coming apart I've just finished installing a Blakes.
Why - you can take a Blakes apart and see what's happening, use a bit of grinding paste, and put it back again with confidence.
I bought a boat with a Dolphin. After many mishaps in not having complete control, out it came and in went a Yanmar 1GM1O.
What I should have done was to have bought the boat having negotiated down the price to cover the cost of engine replacement - but that's for clever people !
My last boat had a bowsprit with the anchor roller on the end of it.
My current boat has no bowsprit , just a bow roller.
When pulling up my danforth anchor, in even a slight sea, it is very difficult to hold off the anchor from bashing my wooden bow.
Any ideas ?
