We catch as much mackerel as we can eat sailing at around 5 knots off Weymouth using a paravane like this one:

What a good thread, it's reminded me that since moving our boat to Weymouth, it's in their coverage area so my membership application has just been emailed off to them.
I moved my boat down there last February. Similar sized boat, kids, and a member of one of the local sailing clubs. Lovely part of the world and such tragic news.
Porlock is the only overnighter on the Bristol Channel where I've dragged anchor - maybe I was in an unlucky spot but it put me off going there again. Tenby on the other hand, I managed to find a very heavy cable with my anchor - we weren't going anywhere!
I used Chris Tindall from CT Marine Surveys Ltd when I bought a GRP yacht from Pwllheli . No complaints at all, and a very efficient service. I'll try and dig out some contact details.
Is it worth a try?
We have an inflatable hot tub in the garage, and a set of grubby sails. If is set the temp to 40’, throw in some non-bio washing powder, put the sails in and turn the bubbles on for half an hour.
Chances of success or abject failure?
We've used a rail mounted Magma charcoal barbecue for the past couple of years - no problems with any embers but I do find the cooking area a little small for a family of four. Have been tempted by the equivalent gas model but I do like the taste when cooking with charcoal.
Having worked for the biggest worldwide producer of both of those items, I can assure you it certainly isn't sterile. Rats chewing into the uncut bulk rolls of kitchen roll was one of the biggest issues the paper mill had to deal with.
