Italians in the Ionian in their silly little RIBs and powerboats especially in August really grips my s***. None of them seem to know the colregs, and most of them are rude or abusive. As for tying up astern in what seems dubious situations, it could well have been poor seamanship.

CLIMBING A MAST 1) Stand on the boom. 2) Grab hold of a shroud in each hand. 3) Lean back and place feet against mast. 4) Brace body, and walk/climb up mast. Easy innit! If this is too hard, then wrap legs around forestay and pull yourself up the forestay.

I don't think you're allowed to dive with scuba gear and a spear gun. It's to stop people hunting for big game fish.

I have been recently asked to skipper a yacht for a couple of weeks day sailing out of Falmouth. Can anyone offer any good advice re: places to visit, anchorages, tidal gates etc. ? I did some of my Day Skipper course in Falmouth and all I can recall is that great big rock in the harbour...

Re: No... What do you mean by freelance work? Instructors can only issue the certificate if working for a RYA registered school. Hope this is of some help!
