Linking depth data to Navionics on a tablet

Ah, I wasn't aware of the Yacker, that looks very good value and simple setup, the only thing is I like the built in AIS and GPS on the Qwark elec unit. Thanks for the replies, the recommendation for the garmin fish finders look like a good possible option as well, and also good to see others...

Linking depth data to Navionics on a tablet

Thanks for everyone's replies here, very useful and will investigate the suggestions made. I think I may be on to something, as I mentioned I was looking at geting a new old stock ST30 bidata which has a combined depth/speed transducer, it has seatalk output as standard (but older standard) and...

Linking depth data to Navionics on a tablet

Hi All, Been a member on here for a long time but not posted in a while. I am really scratching my head at this one, seems like there should be a relatively simple solution to this but I just cant find it, I want to input depth data into Navionics on an android tablet (cheaply!). I have seen...

Exporting a small boat to Corfu from UK

I'll try and get an answer from the RYA, Thanks for mentioning registering the trailer, will be less than 3500kg but would be worth registering anyway.

Exporting a small boat to Corfu from UK

Thanks Graham, That makes sense, regarding the RCD, it should be exempt as it was built in 1990 and is shown on the hin plate, as I understand it ”It was built in the EEA prior to 16 June 1998" is one of the exemption conditions stated by the RYA (correct me if I'm wrong). The trailer is old...

Exporting a small boat to Corfu from UK

Hi all, Not posted on this forum for a while but been a member for many years! Firstly I appreciate this sort of question has been raised many times and while I think I have a grasp on the general situation regarding importing a boat my situation is quite specific and there are many grey areas...

    Prop repair - great service!

Additional aluminium is welded on to the prop and then shaped on a former, there's a good video here on how it's done:

    Tonneau cover material

Hi All, Just thought I'd add my experiences as I run a marine canvas business, Acrylic canvas is the 'standard' used predominantly over the last 10-20 years, the PU coating gives good waterproofing qualities and very durable, the fabric is solution dyed so is UV resistant, although red shades...

    Prop repair - great service!

Hi All, I started a thread a few months ago about having my volvo penta duoprops repaired after I'd hit something with them, tried a few places who said they were beyond repair, but have had brilliant service from Carwyn who runs Castle Marine in Caernarfon. Home - Castle Marine Ltd Did a...

    Chinese diesel heaters

Just thought I'd add to this, as I have bought two in the recent past, Generally they are very good value for money and work really well, although the remote panel though takes some deciphering and the instructions are virtually useless. I would search google for instructions, there are quite a...

    Flexible window material recommendations

Have a look at the Sailrite videos for making a new cover, there are hundreds! I'm not saying this to drum up custom, but be aware that making a cover (depending on what type of course) is a very time consuming and skilled task, I've been doing this for 10+ years and still learning, but by all...

    Flexible window material recommendations

Good information here form everyone, one thing to add, you might want to ask your local sail maker or cover maker for a price, I usually charge around £50 to replace a window up to 1m2 (as long as it's brought to me, and clean!) so might be worth it if you are struggling for space, equipment etc.

    Flexible window material recommendations

Hi Bran, I thought I'd add to this thread as I run a marine canvas business, and I'm regularly asked to replace windows in covers! First of all the material - unfortunately pvc window material is the achilles heel of a boat cover, on average you will get about 5 years from the material...
