I currently run a 2006 Merry Fisher 655 .
Back in the Summer, whilst coming alongside my berth , I misjudged in consequence of which I scratched the port side .
Not deep , but about 18 inches long .
The boat is now out of the water for the winter and I would like to repair the scratch with gel...
I currently run a Merry Fisher 655 which I use as fishing boat .
It is fitted with a Volvo Penta D3 110 engine which has run a total of just under 700 hours.
Lately I have noticed fumes coming into the cabin when the boat is under way.
Inspection reveals that number 2 fuel injector is "...
I currently run a Merry Fisher 655 fitted with a Volvo Penta
D3 110-B engine which has covered just over 700 hours.
The boat was built in 2006.
I service the engine every year but have never replaced the toothed cam belt.
According to the manual which came with the boat , the cam belt should...
I'm after a little advice please.
I run a Merry Fisher 655 .
I recently renewed the cutlass bearing.
The gearbox and propeller shaft flanges were aligned as best I was able, and the shaft turned freely with the required amount of shaft " float " in the new bearing .
The shaft is water...
Can anyone advise please ?
My fishing partner runs a Merry Fisher 925 fitted with a Volvo Penta D4 260, which now has 1600 hours running time on it.
The engine starts and runs faultlessly. It does not burn any oil and does not produce excessive smoke.
Towards the end of last season he noticed...
I run a Merry Fisher 655 out of Plymouth.
About 3 months ago I had a total and unexpected engine failure . The boat is fitted with a Volvo Penta D3110C ( not too impressed with it to be honest ). I was very lucky not to end up on rocks and had to be towed back to my berth at Yachthaven .
It...
As per my previous thread detailing my experience with a total engine failure , I am looking to fit an auxiliary outboard to the boat in case it happens again.
I am in Plymouth.
Anyone have any suggestions for reliable companies in the area who could supply and fit ?
Thank you everyone for your input.
I have asked the VP agent to return the defective pump so I can have it examined.
My problem was/is that I am in no way conversant with the workings of a D3 , let alone the electrical systems, and as such am very much at the mercy of the dealer/agents.
One...
Just to finalise this thread.
The problem turned out to be the fuel injection pump. Why the original failed I have no idea. Must be one of those things I suppose.
Not really a good advert for the Volvo Penta D3 !
Think I'll start looking around for an auxiliary outboard to clamp on the dive...

I have checked all plugs/connectors. None were loose.
The technician who attended did indeed plug in a Vodia diagnostic tool. The message " low pressure in fuel rail " came up.
The pre fuel filter is gravity fed from the tank, and as mentioned in my original post, I found...
I have owned a 2006 Merry Fisher 655 for the past 3 years.
The boat is fitted with a Volvo Penta D3 110 which I have to say has not performed particularly well insofar as it has developed several faults since I have owned the boat, the latest of which has proved to be the most serious.
The...
Suffered quite badly this year with the anodes on my Merry Fisher 655 fizzing off in a few months as a result of which the engine and prop. shaft water intakes "de-zincified" and will have to be replaced.
I will be bonding all the new skin fittings ( bronze as opposed to brass ) and valves to...
Thank you Spannerman.
Had a technician from one of the Volvo Penta agencies take a look at the engine this afternoon. He found no apparent reason for the glitch, but is returning at 1300 on Friday with the Vodia analyser.
Fingers crossed.
I'll let you know what he finds.
