    wanted small inflatable dinghy Soton/hamble

Hi! I'm looking for a small inflatable dinghy (2.3m would be ideal) for around £100, I can collect from any area around the Solent. As I'm currently living on the boat, apologies in advance if I don't reply on the same day. Thanks!

    Filling in cockpit floor gap

Thanks Scotty, the problem with lowering the drain is that the Halcyon has a very low freeboard and the cockpit drain is just above the waterline. It's not unusual to get a bit of water coming in from the drain when sailing with two people in the cockpit.

    Filling in cockpit floor gap

oldsaltoz: now I get it, I was so focused on ways to fill the sump that I couldn't figure out how your system would do it. Now I see you were talking about ways of draining it instead.

    Filling in cockpit floor gap

oldsaltoz: Apologies but I'm not sure I've understood your system, I don't know if you'd have any photo or could describe it in another way (apologies again!)

    Filling in cockpit floor gap

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll probably go for the wood option (teak/iroko, ply or teak grating) as I've never worked with GPR before. AntarcticPilot: Not silly at all. The sump is just as wide as a foot, and deep enough to put your foot up to the ankle. A few times, when having to move...

    Filling in cockpit floor gap

Hi everyone, On my Halcyon the aft part of the cockpit floor, where the drain is, is lower than the rest of it. Here you have a couple of photos: I'd like to raise it to the same level as the rest of the floor, or at least a bit higher (while keeping the drain open of course), but don't...

    50mm OD pipe

Thanks everyone for all the answers. I've gone to Pipe Center following a suggestion from a colleague, and they had it. As I only needed a short length (a bit less than one meter) and their pipes were 6 meters long, the guy at the counter has managed to find a scrap piece in the warehouse and...

    50mm OD pipe

Hi everyone, I've been trying to find without much success 50mm outside diameter plastic pipe (ABS, PVC, etc..) to replace an old one in the boat - it brings the chain from the chain pipe to the chain locker under the forward V-berth. B&Q and other DIY and plumbing retailers sell standard pipe...

Which is stronger: epoxy or steel?

Thanks to everyone for your replies, I'll ditch the "epoxy only" idea and use the screws instead. BabaYaga, it's nice to find someone with a MarinCool! I believe it was not sold in the UK so there aren't many around here. How well does it work on your boat? The reason I started working on it...

Which is stronger: epoxy or steel?

Hi all, I've got an old refrigeration system on the boat, an Origo MarinCool, which works with a cooling plate attached to the outside of the hull (under the water line). The plate is bonded to the hull with adhesive/sealant (don't know if polysulphide or polyurethane) and 8 screws. The plate...
