It was made at the factory with balsa core it’s for a reason,it would also have been more labour intensive to make the hull that way , im sure if it was as easy as throwing in some extra stringers they would have done it when it was manufactured , the factory would have done a lot of stress...

That def looks to me like a balsa cored hull , if so you must replace the balsa core like for like ,same thickness balsa and re glass over with same thickness fiberglass , the strength of the hull will be seriously affected if you don’t, you can’t just rip the inner layer of fiberglass off...

Are you using epoxy to do the repair? , I know some love it and some don’t but from my research and seeing from previous failed repairs attempted on my my boat by previous owners , epoxy is the only way to go as it has a far better secondary bond than polyester

When you were in the trade do you remember what type of blasting media to use after planing? I’ve heard some say to use jblast and some say to use glass , and some say to blast it dry and some say blast wet ? Thanks

We actually had this happen on the river seven in Worcester about 15 years ago , my parents and there friends were on board and if it wasn’t for the fact that one of them woke up when the person who untied the boat chucked the rope on the back deck , the boat could easily have be Smashed up...

Have tried pre filling the filters with diesel , then bleeding? Your prob going to have to try and balance it on top of the filer bowl should but should be doable , failing that might have blockage in the pick up pipe try and blow air backwards through the pick up might dislodge anything...
