    HASLAR MARINA

I'm only a summer visitor at Haslar. We generally base the boat there for 6 weeks or so. The experience of myself and the crew is that they are really very helpful and friendly and a pleasure to deal with. Also we visited the creek when they had a problem with kitchen equipment so the menu was...

    Motor Boat for drying creek

Thanks @oldgit There are no other motor boats in Ray Creek so nothing to compare. I will need to have a prod around and test the bottom when we get there.

    Motor Boat for drying creek

Hi All, I'm a sailor with no experience of motor boats. I'm shortly moving to a drying creek (mud/shingle) where I hope to lay a swinging mooring. I'd like a modest size preloved motor boat for local coastal cruising, ideally with berths for 4 adults, maybe plus a couple of kids at a push...

Drying creek mooring - Bilge or Lift keel

Thanks all for a wide variety of views which I will take into account! I understand the creek is soft mud with salt marsh edges, only steep to where it meets a sandy knoll. Hope to be moved there next month so will check it out fully.

Drying creek mooring - Bilge or Lift keel

Hi All, Hoping to move soon to a house with access to a drying creek off the Colne. I think it dries mostly 0.9m mostly mud, some sand and shingle nearby. My only experience is on fixed keel yachts so would welcome views on whether it must be bilge keel or whether lift keel is a possibility...

Sad news I'd likd to share with you.

So sorry to hear this colhel. Glad you could share it with your friends in the boating community. Though I'm of a with-sails persuasion I count myself with all boaters with you in this. Keep talking and sharing, it's so important and healthy going forward. God's blessings on you and Helen and...

Lavac Marine heads - Ammonia-like pong

We usually leave the boat after doing the usual seawater flush, 8-10 plus 5-6 as directed then leave some washing up liquid in the bowl.

Lavac Marine heads - Ammonia-like pong

Thanks DB Thats helpful. When you say "flush into the pipe" what does that exactly mean? Our Lavac says 8-10 strokes, then wait 5 secs then 5-6 more. So do you mean add solution then the 8-10? By the way, confession time, I've never been sure if you count a stroke as a single movement of the...

Lavac Marine heads - Ammonia-like pong

Thanks. Is white vinegar ok for the pipework and seals? How much do you put down and do you flush it straight through? If so, how does it have time to work?

Lavac Marine heads - Ammonia-like pong

Thanks Little Sister. Batteries are at other end of the boat so unlikely to be the issue I think.

Lavac Marine heads - Ammonia-like pong

Hi All, Our Lavac heads c 1977 was previously odour free. Now a bit of an ammonia like pong. Usually practise is to leave with some washing up liquid in the pan. Any thoughts on cause or seal-safe cleaning/deodorising products? Thanks D
