    Recommendations Lake Garda

Greetings from the Lake! Currently on hols, pb arriving in a couple of days and wondered if anyone can recommend places to go? I'm on the East, Malcasine and was hoping to nip over to a fabulous waterside restaurant one evening in the 'ol Riva, black tie etc, couple of Vodka Martinis.....you get...

South Ionian Charter out of Lefkas

Just come back from 2 weeks in the area. First time (for 30 years) on a yacht and looks like we're converted! We found the Seaside Taverna the best by far and not that much more expensive. Well worth a visit (or 3) and Costa (oops I've name dropped) will make you feel very special. Drinks on the...

    River Arun to Pallingham

Well done for an excellent report! As a born and bred local I've always wanted to navigate to the source of the Arun, or as far as possible. Best I ever made was just past Houghton bridge but turned back due to lack of bottle (and depth!) in a 24ft sports cruiser. Had visions of getting wedged...

    Calorifier Help

I think the plug on the stat varies with the vintage of the engine, IE mine I think is on the starboard side, not as shown in this example. Top marks for finding it though!

    Checking hull for epoxy coating?

When looking to purchase older boats, prior to enlisting the services of ones friendly surveyor, is there an obvious way to tell if an epoxy coating has been applied? IE without removing copious amounts of antifoul..... Can't always believe what brokers tell you, or so it seems... Thanks in...

    Calorifier Help

I still need to connect mine as well, found an old drawing on the net somewhere - can't lay my hands on it the mo. Anyway, from memory you need an unequal TEE in the large hose from the water pump, this goes to one end of the heating coil. As for the other end, you need to replace a plug in the...

Black oil like stuff from exhaust

Sounds like either the choke - probably bi-metallic, either heated electrically in which case check the circuit to it or it might be in a little housing on the inlet manifold and attached to the choke flap with a metal rod a la mercruiser. Or could be sticking float in the carb, I've had exact...

Brokers - here we go again...

Funny, I had exact opposite experience with these same two brokers. Mind you one of 'em has gone very quiet so I must have been asking the wrong (right) questions... ;)

    Credit where it's due

Having scaled back from a 40' twin diesel flybridge to a 24' single petrol cruiser, I was in desperate need of a new canopy. After trawling though this forum I contacted half a dozen companies, by email and follow up phone calls, even providing an image of what I'd got and what I wanted. The...

Best way to heat sports boat at sea?

I intend to fit an Eber to my small petrol cruiser in the next few weeks, if I can get the flippin thing working for more than 2 mins that is..... FYI it will be a diesel heater, as Jez has already spoken about.

    S28 tender...

Hi Carl I've got a 'performance plus' Walker Bay RID 8 that I'm thinking about selling, and could well be interested in your 2.5m Rib. Although the Walker Bay is not much longer, it is considerably wider in the beam, has loads of room and is quite a laugh to sail too. I've rigged it up so...

Comments on Walker Bay RID 275?

Hi I've got the RID 275. No probs with 2 adults, child and large dog. And i've only got a 2hp Honda. Always wondered what it would go like with a bigger engine.... It sails quite well too, given the multi-purpose-ness etc Anyway, hopefully will be for sale soon.... Tim

    Boat Recommendations Needed

This is what we did... Hi Ian I know exactly what you mean, our last boat was an S28 - a quick one too, making over 37 knts. Trouble is you could hardly ever use the speed due to the sort of chop we get and in any sort of sea the thing would roll about a fair bit. And when at anchor - well, you...
