    Breathing protection

In the past to remove coatings I have preferred to scrape rather than sand. Quicker and less dust. I guess that nowadays with antifoul it is still a no no?

New locker lid £800 from Robbins. Help!!

My question was somewhat 'tongue in cheek'! I will have to check the total thickness of the existing lid and will investigate trying to salvage the top plywood layer ( water ingress seems to have separated the ply) and rebond it to some new ply or use new ply with veneer strips on top with...

    How useful are Binoculars ?

They were a complete unit. Monocular with fitted pistol grip and a built in compass. I have not had or seen one for years.

New locker lid £800 from Robbins. Help!!

The quote below was for £840 plus carriage. Should I go for it?! Dear Mr Catterall Thank you for your recent email enquiry as below. I’m afraid our Elite decking is only sold in full sheets so I have attached a quotation for 1 whole sheet cut to the size as requested and the offcut...

Just looking at teak veneer costs and see 3mx19cm x 3mm at £76 and similar size but 1.5mm at £31. In terms of wear I would be happy with the 1.5mm but is that a bit shallow to caulk? The caulk lines on my lids are only 3 or 4 mm wide. Like others I have found old furniture a good source though...

A locker lid on our old Neptunian needs replacing. Water has got in and the ply has weakened. It will soon fail as crew like to jump on it when entering the cockpit. The original ply has that fake caulked look and I wanted to replace with something similar. Robbins timber ! was my immediate...

    Seacock issue

Thanks all. As advised first task was a good clean of the whole unit. It looks better and shows no sign of pinkness. I do have a very large mole grip ( don't shout!!) Maximum pressure on the jaws and a short extension tube and it became loose!! I confirm that it was a standard 1" compression...

    Seacock issue

A 'near do' on Coral Wind! Just checking various connections and noted that the green corrosion on the engine to seacock looked iffy. Poked it with a nail and an immediate sport of water. Cleaned it up and there is a definite hole. I do have a bit of the correct size of copper pipe and some...
