It's always worth giving the underside of the hull a close inspection as owners may have allowed the boat to dry out over a "projection" in an otherwise sandy bottom.
I wonder how pleased the 'satisfied' owners who paid near the asking price would be if they now tried to sell and discovered how difficult it is to get anywhere near the price they paid. The addendum to Flying Spud's post just about sums it all up.
Stainless anti-snatch springs can be bought for about £10 - £15 (old money to you) each and are easily shackled to the riser. Try the large size and use two in parallel if you feel it necessary.

It is a Mariner's Mate and is 18'-6" long, heavy displacement, has an inboard (Yanmar?)diesel as standard and usually has a 75mm (10" circ.) hemp rope fender along the gunwhales. It is usually rigged as a motor sailor but can also be seen as a motorboat. They have an excellent reputation.
I thought of buying a Yak 1 to carry on the boat. I checked prices on the internet. Every supplier was advertising at exactly the same price; hence my decision to go without or buy secondhand.

Early Plastimo spars had twin grooves and were supplied with slides to fit in the second groove before hoisting the second sail.
Those slides were designed for the hanks of the second sail to be attached to them.
Clear as mud, eh?
