We have a mooring in the Kyles Of Bute and this year have noticed the lack of jellyfish. No scouders or the blue ones to be seen. Normally at this time of year they are in abundance in these sheltered waters. The sea water is brown with algae or Rainwater from the burns.
If and when I use the canal I shall make my transit in as cheerfull and courteous manner as always. I do not welome or require your input or comments. However I shall remain as ever uncouth, uncultured, primitive and barbaric when the trim takes me. Trust our paths shall not pass in the future.
Never knew about the walkway difficulties and been using the canal now for about 60 years. Oh Dear! Surely the canal operators should make users aware of such problems. Oft times in the past transits it was helpfull to leave the gates open to enable fast passage for boats coming the other way...
Yes, a good passage to a splendid Island. I can remember about going to Portpatrick from Largs as making enough miles for the qualifying passage or over to Carrickfergus certainly qualifies
Campbeltown Pontoon

Yanmar Exhaust Elbow
I too have similiar experience of the exhaust elbow showing only minor wear and tear on having been checked after nine years running of at least 100 hours per season.. Indeed I have reason to believe that the elbow is the original since engine instalation in 1994.
Went down to boat yesterday to remove and check the exhaust manifold on my Yanmar 1GM10, last checked four years ago, and found all okay. Gave it a wash and blow dry and put back on. I have owned the boat/engine for approx ten years and when I spoke to the previous owners who had the engine...
Propshaft Overhang
Thank you very much for the information regarding the likely prop shaft overhang and I shall look into changing to a hull or rudder anode, which should enable the shaft to be shortened. The yacht is a Vega so a relatively simple task to make the change. Thanks again for your...
Propshaft Overhang
I have a 54mm shaft anode between the bearing and the prop shaft, with say 10mm each side for clearance. Shaft diametre is 25mm with a Two blade fixed prop. Could this be too much overhang and cause shaft resonance? Would the shaft anode have the same effect regarding...
