    Marinas that are closed

Thank you both for your patronising, pompous, self-righteous and totally unnecessary advice. Had you actually troubled to read what I wrote you'd know I was merely questioning their right to deny you access to your property which by the nature of your contract with them you do have the right to...

I need an old fashion electronic/radio technician

Get in touch with yur local ham radio club, they're bound to have members with the skills you need, or at least know where to fid one.

    Marinas that are closed

I'm a bit sceptical that they are allowed to prevent you accessing your boat. They'd also be liable if you were prevented from checking it and it sank, or if the batteries became dud because you couldn't charge them I'd be putting in a liability claim too. Ditto if a mooring line chafed through...

    Poo Poll

I'd be too scared to use that! I can see a big button with a red square on it - presumably emergency stop. But what sort of emergencies might a satanic contraption like that be capable of? The mind boggles. Then there's a button with a pictogtam of a bum with a geyser underneath - self...

    Poo Poll

Africa! Blocked Baby Blakes pale into insignificance if, like some poor nurse years ago in Lokichoggio, Kenya (very remote aid camp and airfield on the Sudan border) you are sitting on the long-drop latrine with your keks around your ankles contemplating life in the fast lane and light up a...

Flopper-Stoppers - Anti Roll Devices. Do They Really Work?

I'm asking those who have tried them - do they work? If so, which design and how rigged? I'm sure thread creep may turn this into a theoretical dicussion - but first can we please listen to those who have actually used these things?

Fridge engineer in the Lowestoft area

Er - just as I said!

Fridge engineer in the Lowestoft area

Why do you need a specialist in marine refridgeration to regas a fridge, just because it is in a boat? Any half-decent fridge engineer can do that, it's as routine a job as a mechanic pumping up a tyre if he has portable regassing kit. You may like to notice I made no mention of the level of...

Fridge engineer in the Lowestoft area

There are of course several fridge engineers in the immediate area who will inevitably be less costly than importing one from Ipswich. Fridge Repairs Lowestoft | www.fridgemenders.co.uk is one.

    Which folding/feathering prop? ...

My Featherstream is being fitted (I hope) at the moment. The last thing I want to do is eliminate prop walk. At present I have too much, but it is very useful for manoeuvering a long-keel boat and I'd hate to be without some.

    Allowed on boat...

I fail to see how sailing a laser is or can be prohibited. It is even less a transmission hazard than emptying the dog in the park, taking a bike ride or going to the off licence (apparently an 'essential' activity) and we're told we can do all those. I also fail to see how driving there has...

What tools have you wanted but can't get because they are on your boat?

Fascinating, though I've never heard of a Diesel referred to as an ether engine before. If it won't start it's usually down to flooding or stale fuel. A diesel should start almost as easily as a glowplug. Certainly smell a whole lot nicer!

The perfect film for anyone stuck at home dreaming about sailing...

Wow! What a film. Thanks! Edit; Just spent the rest of the evening watching all the other Whitbread films. My, how things changed between each one! Incedentally does anyone know where Whitbread Heritage (ex GBII, United Friendly, and a couple of other aliases) is now? I'd love to make her...

Isles of Scilly closed to recreational yachts

Not another one! Don't you do plain english either? Whatever gave you the idea I would want to go there when requested not to? I wouldn't dream of it. Not everyone behaves in the way you seem to naturally assume, leading me to think that's the way you naturally behave yourself. Its a bit of a...
