Now taking one apart when there's nothing wrong looks like asking for trouble! I've taken to virtually holding the mini-iPad with one hand taking hundreds of reference photos as I go - it makes jobs on the engine so much easier.

Yes, although the top of one of the pieces is a little flattened off - seemingly having been a little melted. It's as black as coal - not brown or faded.
