Hi all. Bit of an old thread, hope you don't mind me re-upping it.
@OP - did you bite the bullet and rebuild or replace?
Any recommendations on where in UK will do a rebuild that you can send in to?
Thanks.
Stripped out the main shaft and it's not the keyway so definitely think the teeth on the worm gear has gone. You're right in that the Gbox and motor are 1 unit, so will need to replace the lot. Thanks for the advice.
I think this is it. When I mention it goes out and in, I mean you can hear the motor turning. And without the chain on it, the gyspy will turn out and in. But the minute you put load on it, it will only let chain out but not in. Suggests to me the teeth on the worm are gone :(
Thanks Jonathan, it was serviced last year by but I suspect the engineer didn't strip down to the gearbox, my mistake for not checking.
I suspect no oil in gearbox as the shaft turns and I can get purchase from time to time (e.g. it will spool the chain out but not in). Therefore suspect it's...
Hi all,
Today, my gypsy on my windlass stopped rotating. The motor operates and if I move/wiggle the gypsy a little without load, it turns but when you put load on it, it doesn't turn. I expect either the keyway has gone on it or worse, the worm gear. When there's load on it, you can kind of...
I bought a DSE 3110 control panel (Deep Sea Electronics) to replace my Paguro 4000 CP, looking to confirm my interpretation of the wiring diagram is correct so I can connect it to the CP. Therefore I am wondering if anyone has experience of this that might be able to help me?
It never used to buzz upon starting.
I am not sure if the starter keeps running, if I keep the start button engaged, would this not keep the starter engaged?
Yes, its Raw Water cooled.
My thoughts as well on the fuel solenoid.
The panel has no key as such. You simply press Start and it starts to crank it. The buzzing/alarm persists as long as you press the start button. The engine will start up and run as long as you want as long as you have the...
Thanks for your persistence in helping me with this issues!
Thought along the same lines as you, pulled the sensors cables (exhaust temp, oil) but the buzzing still occurs when starting. The only thing I haven't tried if it's a signal from the fuel solenoid, although suspect that as this is...
Thanks. Very helpful. I contacted Advance Yacht Systems. They suspect a failed relay on the PCB on the control panel. Trying to find some options as I would prefer not fork out £600 for a new control panel.
Hi there,
I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction.
I have an Paguro 4000 Farymann. When I press the start button, there is an audible “buzzing” alarm on the control panel. The generator will start up if I press and hold the start button (buzzing persists), then then...
Mine did something like this. Sounds like a power or connection issue. Have you gone over all connections? Another would be to try alternative cables.
The only other possibility would be a fault in anything that controls the autopilot (eg. Plotter) but doubt this would be the case
Hi all,
After being laid up in Croatia for the winter season, I returned to my Bav46 (2007) to find that there was rust staining on the rigging below decks. This wasn't like this before we left her so is likely to be an issue caused by moisture build-up over winter.
I could take the easy...
