    Deep lock to the ocean

Went through in 2008. Interesting experience. Had just 2" clearance under the old lock gates as Kindred Spirit is high. New gates are 2" lower.

Just spotted this thread, Noel. Enjoy. The jet stream seems to be staying north for a while anyway. :)

On the anchor again tonight - youghal bay - the wonder of it all

Ah, swinging around on the hook, looking up at the sky and the ghostly hills, you get the happy illusion that you are "free". I know it's only an illusion before you have to return to reality but it's lovely while it lasts. :)

Would you be happy to cross to France from Poole in a single engine ~30ft boat?

I've been quite happy to make long trips in my single-engined 28' Astinor 840. Made quite a few 2 day trips from Kilrush to Cork. And 1 day trip Cork to the Scilly Isles 135 miles. Also Cork to Neyland 135 miles, one day. The Astinor is EU classification B. Engine: Yanmar 250hp. I love being out...

MBY's most extreme test ever, with Safehaven Marine

Last time I came through a Force 8, my windscreen was fine but my two wipers were MANGLED! AND, I never want to see any Force 8s again. Boat can cope but it's a bit worrying when looking at the sea state. :(

A few pictures to brighten up your day...

Lovely pictures, Alt. Reminds me of our trip to Inchagoill a couple of years ago. Are there still mink on the island?
