    Solar Vent Fans

20 months ago I fitted 3 solar vent fans, replacing the standard deckhead ventilators. The first one failed after 13 months, the second after 16 months and the 3rd one, though still running slowly, sounds as if the bearings have gone. All the solar panels of these units had turned milky...

    Engine oil filling

I simply have a little pump action oil can with a flexible spout. I check levels every day and a couple of squirts a day into the port engines dipstick hole keep my port engine happy. My starboard engine does not seem to need any between changes.

    Injectors

I clean and test my own injectors with a test pump that cost me £40 15 years ago. Having 2 x 6 cyliner units I have obviously made some savings

B&B / Hotel near Haslar Marina

We live and moor in Gosport. There is no walking distance Hotels but a couple of B&B within 15 minutes walk, 5 min taxi. You are better off saying onboard and using the lightship facilities.

    That's it - I'm Going

Re: That\'s it - I\'m Going A return trip just cost me £144 in fuel and ferry, but must add to this European relay breakdown cover for the car (now £123 per year but I think I can get better) One way travel time 10 hours, including waiting and head down on ferry. Lift out waterwash and return...

    That's it - I'm Going

That\'s it - I\'m Going Found a good berth in Europe. Cheaper mooring (even with travel taken into account) and after November the fuel will be cheaper. Yes we do most of our cruising in Europe, but when not away long term we will miss having the boat 20 minutes away, keeping an eye on her and...

    port of registry for SSR??

Regularly traveling in Europe, before I go I print lots of A4 sheets each containing all my details in English, French, Dutch and German. Handing this over normally confounds and satisfies even the most ardent jobsworth euro lock keeper.

    Sad reflection on UK PLC.

You should be careful about calling the Police. They obviuously do not want to be called and are liable to take it out on you. Crime is increasing, after many years crime free I have been a victim 4 times in the last 3 years. The more recent 2 events were a stolen pushbike and an expensive...

    Corvette 32

Years ago we fancied a Corvette 32 having read the reviews, then spent time aboard one belonging to an aquaintance. To put it frankly we were dissappointed in size, space and build quality. Personnaly I would suggest you look at the Princess 35/36/37/38 range. much better space and value for money.

    Surveyors

Depends where you are. Check local pages. Survey fees are fairly standard, but travel costs can vary enormously. Check the small print. Many have get out clauses that say they are not responsible if they get their decisions wrong. Ensure they have accreditation and proffessional insurance so...
