The Round Britain & Ireland Race

Would the 3300 may present a more competitive proposition in planing conditions - or release in marginal stuff earlier? - i have no knowledge/experience of either

The Round Britain & Ireland Race

Mindful of low wind challenges all the finishers are rockstars and Jangada have deservedly added to their huge trophy cabinet - what races have they not won in 2 handed class?! Really enjoyed the amazingly close battle between Bellino and Mzungu! - thought when the latter had to sail without...

There could be a problem at a racing mark!

I certainly did - I think extracting the hook from my gullet will be a complex painful process - might just have to take a view and snip the wire trace and hope for the best:D

There could be a problem at a racing mark!

I am certain yours was a tongue in cheek remark and I am sure you are keen racer really and are employed by the forum owners to mix it up a bit with your provocative remarks - to elicit responses and thus increase page impressions. That said - I'll bite anyway - it's a hot day and replying is a...

Hailing "We Are Racing", in the Solent

Good luck with that approach if you are cruising off Cowes from next Saturday onwards - I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities for you to have some healthy dialogue with others to express your views :D

    America's Cup- Am I alone?

I wholeheartedly agree the last few races were great to watch - especially with the 2 finalists which were closer than expected in performance - so happy to be proved wrong :) - look forward to potential prospect of seeing these class of boats race in next AC

    America's Cup- Am I alone?

Kind of agree with OP - but I think the racing has been a lot better than everyone envisaged with these type of boats super high performance boats as crew got to grips with the boats - but AC has always been about a blend of extreme arcane tech with enormous budgets with a bit of match racing...

    Racing on Blade again

Enjoyed that! In office on a gloomy day suffering withdrawl symptoms - just what i wanted to see - as you say you made up ground after the start - and an interesting diverse group of boats. When you look back at a nice day out on the water like that it acts a reminder that the small amount of...

A new destination for the Fastnet race?

You seemed to be ahead of the pack! Plymouth was a bit limited in facilities after the race - but after 4.5 days of slog - i was not really that bothered - apparently 150 boats on waiting list this year after 340 entrants accepted - partly due to plymouth berthing limitations/modest...

Another excellent weekend racing (Solent/South Coast)

Also enjoyed that weekend's racing - Saturday was great with lots of boats - made it a lot more fun. Diversity of boats and ratings provided plenty of banter material as always after the race - or let's face it - any handicap race! 3 up made us busy with kite and a bit overpowered on the final...

    Fastnet 2019

Agree! 4.5 days afloat meant i was grateful to use whatever facilities which were available - our boom snapped half way coming back in the Irish Sea - could not use asymmetric pole for most race etc - there is plenty I will remember about this race - long after the standard of loos at either...

    A Day At The Races!

Great pics - love the seadogs - but on the boats one of the JPK10.10's or a J/105 would be my pick for this race - just looked on tracker - they seem to be making good progress - fair winds and following seas to all competitors. Makes me realise that smaller RORC Fastnet qualifying races are...

    Entering regattas

Maybe because this year Fastnet is 2 weeks earlier this year and slower boats will finish on the 8th or thereabouts - i.e. 2 days before Cowes week. Some who are doing fastnet who usually might do Cowes week might decide that they will give Cowes week - or the whole commitment a miss this year...

    Cervantes Trophy

Not a good story as such - but did event in someone elses boat as a qualifier for Fastnet. Before we left Solent - trashed a headsail and lost a sail bag. 25+ hours in what were generally cold windy conditions. You mention the Littlehampton mark - for someone new to offshore after a long...
