I do know that via the HIN, she was no 989, and that this meant she was built in 1981 - I even know the day and month! but I cant for the life of me remember how I got that info

I think estimating the loads is always going to be pretty difficult (or even to know when it will break - gust? slam? sail in water? etc), and then estimating a relevant safety factor will then also be difficult.

I did use graphite paste the last time, but this has turned into a solid gum on the lifting rudder, and I suspect the same has happened on the keel thread.
