I have been very happily using Pathaway on my Palm TX PDA as a plotter for years now, but would like to change to something a bit more modern - it wont last for ever.

Could anyone tell me the current 'state of the art' for a software replacement?

Re hardware: I have my eye on a Nexus 7, but alternative suggestions most welcome

Most important to me is that I can scan & calibrate from my own paper charts, and a bit bigger screen than the TX (4")

Thanks in advance

I've used scanned charts and aerial photos / google earth screen shots with gpsu.

Free program, developed in the UK, handles most formats, including importing Pathaway.

See http://www.gpsu.co.uk/features.html

Only runs on Windows as far as I can see. Nexus is Android. Looks like Seaclear is 'PC based, which suggests it too may not run on Android. Didnt look very hard, but saw no mention of an android version, so Nexus wont work with any of these.

Interested to know as i am just updating to an Android tablet. (Well, tomorrow anyway, so cant play with it yet !)
