I have 6 Aerogen 2 blades from my old genny which bit the dust a while back. Not sure why I kept the blades.
Five were the balanced set from the old genny, the 6th was one I picked up at a boat jumble, the old “it might come in useful one day” purchase.
It didn’t but I'd guess these...
Hmm, not sure if a manufacturer’s Use By recommendation could be defined as a nebulous date, but I get your point.
Do Crewsaver have a recommended lifespan on their products then?
Of course manufacturer’s recommended product lifespans are important, especially if it might cost you your life...
A good point, I will do.
It is the lifejacket that failed, there's a soft elastic plastic ring bonded to the jacket, soft enough to allow the Hammar to go through the hole, then return to its original form and onto which the two parts of the Hammar seal. It's that ring that seems to have...
If you have an older Crewsaver lifejacket fitted with the Hammar Automatic Inflation, I’d suggest you read on.
Mea Culpa, my Crewsaver N150’s are no spring chickens, well over 10 years old, and haven’t been used much over the last few years.
But today’s job was to check all the life jackets...
After over 15 years, the non-slip on my companionway steps was finally starting to show some wear. And I am a live aboard so it’s a high traffic area.
Was well happy with the non-slip I’d applied in Darwin (Aus) all those years ago, but I couldn’t seem to find it in this country. Treadmaster...
Absolutely too addicted to tech!
I find it really scarey how many world cruisers I've bumped into, albeit usually Septics, who totally rely on their Chartplotters and GPS and carry NO charts even as backup!
And the old line that the best back up for a GPS is another GPS wears a little thin...
TWO 10kg MME Weld-on zinc anodes, bought in error ages ago, cluttering up the boat.
£80.00 for the pair
They're down in Dover at the moment, collection is fine and I will post but that'll be extra.
Thanks for your responses, I have now found someone who can do the biz for me.
With respect to why I am replacing them, mea culpa, I did photograph the two OKish ones, though if you look closely you can see one has started flaking, and was abrading the halyard. The others were in a sorrier...
With Covid curtailing my travels, i'm taking the opportunity to get my masts out so I can repaint and service them, one job being replacing the masthead sheaves.
But being an Australian boat and not knowing the UK market, despite googling I can’t seem to find anyone to supply them. I can get...
Edward William SL, that well known bucket shop marine insurance broker, are at it again.
Having been well turned over by them earlier in the year for a few hundred pounds when the “underwriter”, Northern Reef, “went bust” leaving me suddenly with no cover, nor with a chance of getting my money...
If you're interested in this sort of stuff, 19th-20th Century naval history, ships, battles and the mechanics etc, I'd well recomend a naval historian chap who goes under the name Drachinifel.
His YouTube channel is Drachinifel
I’ve sailed to the UK from Australia and a mix of filial duties and Covid means I’m still here.
So, let’s get into a big maintenance cycle I thought.
Now I have a couple of wind generators. A sleek sexy flowing AirX and an Aerogen.
I loved that Aerogen, a great British design. Who needs...
