Help! How to get my new Sonata back to the Solent?

Ayoop. Did this trip (well actually Torquay to Hamble) last year. I had.....no, let's get this right, I helped Tidewaiter of this parish to deliver my new to me LM 24 last July. Looking back and with the added experience of sailing from Bursledon to Sweares Deep at the top of Chichester harbour...

Moving to a mooring from a marina

Hi folks, sorry for the delay getting back, had a lot of other stuff going on and had forgotten I'd posted (shameful smiley). The bow roller has a bit in it which I think would hold a chain quite well and the cleat I have would just be used to hold the loose end, so I may be OK. Going down the...

Moving to a mooring from a marina

Well, thank you everyone for your ideas. I have a decent ie rowable rub-a-dub and plan to take it home with me when not on board, I'm used to doing this. Morrisons, here I come.... I understand the strop (?) is attached to the buoy and will make arrangements to secure it. I have a central cleat...

Moving to a mooring from a marina

As per the title, from April 1st I will be on a mooring in Sweare's Deep in Chichester harbour. I've always been in a marina mooring apart from a couple of days in Newtown Creek on the hook. So I thought I'd better find out what equipment I'm going to need to securely achieve this. This mooring...

    LM27

Well, I've just bought the 24 ft version a couple of monthgs back and very pleased with I am. The 27 is obviously bigger (!) and in fact there is one for sale at Deacons asking I think about 19k with in mast mainsail. They cope well with big following seas as we found out on the delivery from...

    Inflatable with outboard

Surprised no-one has answered this, very likely, if not absolutely certainly, a standard shaft will do the job, unless you're planning on using it as a backup for your main engine when a long or extra long shaft would be more suitable. However, if you use a longer shaft on a standard inflatable...

    Defecting to motor boats

Re: Defecating on a motor boat I looked at your first post and thought aha, might be worth mentioning our peche promenade Merryfisher 805 which is for sale......then I saw what others were recommending and realised that it's not what you're looking at, at all. Bugga. Never mind.

Feeling depressed, should I buy a new boat.

Just going down the LM route myself....added bonus is the wife thinks it's a lovely little thing. I was sold as soon as I saw it and this one has been beautifully maintained. She rides well to a following sea to boot so happy as a very happy thing, bearing in mind it's going to be a 2-3 day trip...

    Sailing from Torquay to Chichester

OK, quick update, deposit has been paid and finance arranged for the balance, so purchase is ON! For practical purposes, the delivery trip to Chichester has to be between the 8th and the 21st July as that's when I have the time off work, assuming a journey time of 2-3 days. Twitching...

    Sailing from Torquay to Chichester

Well, thanks for the replies and advice....taken well on board you can be sure. The tides and weather will be closely studied for the most opportune moment. The boat, having been given a thorough inspection and guided tour by the owner, is well up to the job...we went out for a little sail and...

    Sailing from Torquay to Chichester

I'm planning the return to sail after 3 years with a mobo that we haven't really fully utilised. We've agreed in principle to buy an LM 24 and will need to get her to a cheap mooring in the Solent/ Chichester area while the weather is (hopefully!) reasonable. Any ideas on how to proceed ie time...

    Merry fisher 805

We've had one for three years now and are in the process of getting her ready for sale, reason being that Mrs HaC isn't much into boating now ad we could use the cash elsewhere. s I'm now planning on back to sail, it seems appropriate to sell her ready to go at the start? of the season...

    boat wanted

I could be wrong, but walking past Deacons at Bursledon yesterday evening, I believe I saw an 805 Merryfisher on their hardstanding, presumably for sale....might be worth a phonecall.

    Volvo service

Has anyone any experience of using TS Marine at Universal? We're based there and thought it would be handy to use a local on-site company for our engine service. The engine in question is a TAMD41A and needs the works in preparation for this season's boating. Any feedback welcome....
