We did it backwards.... Started out on motor boats, mostly old WW2 conversions back in the early 80s. Didn't get my 1st sail boat until 1996 in San Diego.
If the boat sells in any kind of decent time scale, then maybe a little motorhome for a while. Sadly though, the long term prognosis for...
Before I got the medical diagnosis, I bought a lot of new kit to fit to the boat. I'll sell all that either here or on eBay, so keep your eyes open for a bargain.
Everything from fresh water pumps and solar panels, to Victron split chargers and stuff....
This is a tough post for me (tough time too).
After more than 40 years of boating and sailing, a recent medical diagnosis means that realistically, we have to give up sailing (or certainly ownership).
I’ve been quite ill for years, but always just ‘pushed through it’ and sailed or worked on...
Thanks for the more sensible replies guys:-) That exactly the kind of info I was after. We're often offshore, or at least a long way from anywhere to purchase new stock, so maximising the life of all my onboard supplies is extremely important.
Put your rattle away sir. The word i used was "polyester".
Have no probs with Epoxy as I believe i stated?
And i dont believe i actually asked for "sympathy" ;-)
Anyone ever found a way to maximize the shelf life of either opened or unopened Polyester resin and MEKP? Also, which in your opinion, is worse for going off - the resin or the MEKP?
I mostly use epoxy resins for most small jobs and repairs, even if using CSM and cloth, so that's not usually...
We have what is I think the 30Amp version. They are, IMHO a great piece of kit. It does sound like your has developed a fault though. Presumably, it hasn't always done this? Is the unit very hot to the touch?
I thought i 'MIGHT' try my luck fabricating a 25mm S/S tube bridge for some solar panels. Would certainly need some practice first though. Never tried using SS rods in a stick welder before. Maybe i should have a play:-)
Did some reasonable S/S MIG welding a few years ago with 22mm tube.
Although my welding is usually not very good, its really 'silly money' for mobile welders to come out to jobs in France. I can't really imagine stick welding stainless. Surely its pretty messy?
Anyone have any recommendations for either MIG or TIG inverter welders?
I'm looking for something light & portable we can easily carry on the boat, will weld stainless, but one that's NOT going to break the bank:-)
Inverter welders are sort of, out of their infancy, so I'm hoping there's...
