Late to this thread sorry.
I have a Halmatic with a Beta 20 / 3 bladed prop. We’re in the Bristol Channel - top end with plenty of tide - and the boat has never been underpowered nor had to run on full revs. The boats are not good going astern as is well known, but I can turn her on the spot in...
Calorifier without doubt. Modern boats have them fitted as standard but having started sailing all those years ago in converted lifeboats with cotton sails and a Primus stove’ I fitted a calorifier on my ( new to me) Halmatic about 12 years ago and still can’t get over the absolute sheer luxury...
Thanks Paul. I have now discovered an intermittent fault in the plotter power switch which may well be a sign of the problem elsewhere. I fitted the plotter to the cockpit bulkhead about 12 years ago where it has lain in all weathers with a sun cover and, although well bedded in sealant it looks...
Didn't work I'm afraid. I have re-made all of the connections with Wago two way or three way connectors but before I go and leave you in peace, a last throw of the dice............?
From the Plotter handbook - the plotter grey is shown as Port2 input Fish finder - which I do not have. There is...
Thanks as usual Paul. I have connected the top two correctly but not the bottom two. Long live Wago connectors!
I will give it a go tomorrow and let you know
Thanks again
Thanks for all of the advice.
I am just getting to the end of this job and I used Wago connectors as the connection location is very restricted and the connectors are tolerant of my low ability to make a good connection, and are also easy to disconnect where I have made a wrong connection...
Looks a lot better that the one that I have and ideal for use in confined spaces, so just going to pick one up from Toolstation - about £10 cheaper than Screwfix for the same make if you can believe it, and the shops are opposite each other!
The connections are a bit vulnerable where they are but are restricted by the cable lengths from the plotter and radio. I should have put them in a box when I did them in the first place. I might have to do a bit of re-jigging to make it easier to do a better job!
Do I need to strip the cable to expose the core or will the clamp break through the core and make a connection? I have looked at a couple of videos but they only seem to show domestic wiring which is solid core and much more substantial than the thin wiring on the plotter etc
Thanks Paul - I have googled them and they look ideal and within my capability.
I think (hope) that this is the last bit of electrickery that I need to do!
