    Baked on Mud

If you can, tape some sacking so it hangs over the mud and soak it regularly. This softens the mud and it becomes easy to hose/scrape off. Mike

    Anyone using Yellowbrick trackers?

Allan, it is still working, you haven't turned it off! You are in what appears to be an industrial estate in northern Poole. :encouragement: Mike

How to put a screw into wood?

Same, but use a bit of Sikaflex, not epoxy. Mike

where do GRP boats go to die?

I'm surprised none of you have mentioned http://www.boatbreakers.com/ I have heard that they are well worth contacting. Mike

    This years antifoul result

It worked well for me. It is not perfect, and does not claim to be. Wood surfaces are not protected much and weed grows at the waterline. You still need anti-fouling to avoid the sea-squirts. Ultrasonic does not affect them. However those barnacles that do attach, and some will, all come off...

mainsheet blocks , trimmers & mechanical advantage ?

Why? Because most people are of a 'cruising persuasion' not a 'racing persuasion'. So for all the cruisers, the straining of the rig, the boat, and our arm muscles are just not worth it. Mike

What's your best (or favourite) chandlery or online supplier?

I agree with Parsifal. Currently I find Piplers of Poole to be very good. But so are several others. There seems to be only one particularly to avoid. It has been mentioned in many posts in the past. But I'm sorry to say I can't remember their name. Please check rather than me giving you wrong...

    Do not disconnect under load?..

Elton, I'm sure you are right that the words mean that. However the instructions that come with the panels use that phrase but then explain that the panels should be COVERED. The example given on the last set of installation notes that I read even suggested putting a coat over the panel...

Compare prices instantly across 16 leading UK chandleries

I didn't see Salty John on your list. Also missing is QuayWest Marine in Poole. It is obviously not your first line of thinking, but have you considered including, as a separate heading, caravan equipment suppliers? If used carefully they are often good. Many times I find the identical kit at...

    Recommendation for 20L fuel cans.

I recommend that you get some more of the metal 'jerry can' style ones on ebay or somewhere if you can. I made the mistake of getting plastic 22 litre ones. I have tried different types. They tend to leak. Get damaged too easily. They are expensive. Yes they are easier to put fittings into and...
