WARNING - SPAIN - Deliberate attempt to Foul Stern gear

THank you but yes I was keeping proper look out. I think I can tell when a boat turn 90 degrees across my bow deliberately.

WARNING - SPAIN - Deliberate attempt to Foul Stern gear

For all of you cruising on the South Spanish Atlantic Coast please read this warning. At 14:00hrs on 6th June 2006 my wife and I were coast hoping between Ayamonte and Mazagon on the Atlantic coast of Spain. At position 37 08.199'N 007 17.374'W, in motoring conditions, a red and white Spanish...

HELP - Steel Callisto - Oil in Water Tank

I need help on a number of counts due to the discovery of sump oil in our main water tank. This has contaminated both hot and cold water systems. One theory is that we have been sabotaged and a person unknown has put oil and petrol down our filler pipe. However, so far I have extracted at...

Haul Out on the South Coast of Spain

We are looking for somwhere to haul out a 23 ton yacht to do the antifouling etc over the next few months. Only need about seven days. Gibraltar is too expensive, Estepona has a rubbish hoist and we don't fancy Smir with the current political climate. Any suggestions?

    Gibraltar

Once you have been fed up of paying high Spanish and Portugese prices for fuel, don't forget that Gibraltar still has low duty on Diesel. Currently 43p/lt for under 350lts and 38p/lt for over quantities over 350 lts. Happy motoring!

    Cooking and heating fuels?

We have been live aboards since 2004 (currently in Gibraltar) and have a Taylors parrafin cooker on board. It would not be our choice now. It is slow to light, flare ups can be dangerous and parraffin is not that readily available. Gas on the other hand, is available everywhere although you...

Marina's and popular anchorages in north west spain

Re: Marina\'s and popular anchorages in north west spain The easy response is to take a look at my web site www.distantdrum.co.uk the 2005 passages. NW Spain is the best Spain has to offer, although you won’t get the temperature of the South. Asd a quick guide: Bilbao marina doesn’t exist so...

Palma Mallorca to SE Spain to Gib + Canaries

Estepona is a nice marina and the Chandler up by the boat yard is the best stocked I have ever seen. The Marina is okay but noisey at night. Gib, Marina Bay is brilliant. The staff are excellent and you can stock up with spirits and Typhoo tea!

    Cruising in France

No books but I can recommend the Vilaine River. La Roche Bernard has been well documented in YM and is a very nice, traditional French town, however the visitors mooring leaves a little to be desired. Five miles up river, however, is Foluex, a moor beautiful spot is hard to imagine. We stayed...

Are fewer Brits making the 'great escape'?

Re: Are fewer Brits making the \'great escape\'? We set off in 2004 and after cruising through France, North Coast of Spain, Portugal and now Gibraltar I was surprised at the lack of yachts in Transit. On the North coast of Spain we only saw a handful of yachts of any nationality (shame as it...
