Rev counter terminal on alternator .

Hi All....After playing around in a tight engine space the Rev counter has stopped working . The engine is a Perkins 4108 . I can't find any loose or disconnected wires . Does anyone know the alternator conn which supplies the Rev counter to give me a start to do some tracing back to the counter ? The workshop manual is useless in that area . .Regards to all .

Its the "W" connection. It will be a small terminal, not D+.
Which model of alternator?

It's possible that it isn't driven by the alternator; some 4108s have a separate tacho sender.

thanks chaps ALL your replies ....... Yes pvb thanks very much is was indeed a sender and not the alternator . A wire was off , reconnected and all is well . So many thank to you all who took the time to offer advice .???
