A while ago Paul Heiney and Libby Purves published a booklet "Where did you leave they Admiral?", which was a sort of code book for similiar esoteric messages. Such things as "can you spare me some quince preserve?"
Mildly amusing for a few minutes but it got repetitive fairly quickly.
