Ignore their thumbnails, judge them on the content you’ll either love it or not. Also dont judge her on bikinis, she works like a dog in many episodes and when the cat sank was the first genuine cry i think ive seen on YT. She’d put everything into it and watching it sink after several long days spoke for itself, you could see the stress and tiredness. Needless to say they know how to use that footage, but it was obviously genuine.
As i said though, its not for everyone so if you don’t like it then thats fair enough.
 
Ok, I’ll take the comment back, maybe I was being a bit judgmental.

I agree they worked really hard to get the cat out and I genuinely felt bad for them when it didn’t go to plan. I did watch a bit of the episode where she confronted the robbers and thought, bloody hell she’s got some fire in her!
 
I watched the last three episodes over last couple of days. As far as I'm aware this happened a year ago - they went through Paris a couple of days before the Seine was closed for the Olympics and continued to cross the Med late summer/early Autumn. They somehow seem to have had a complete news blackout since then, part of a way of very professionaly monetising info, you need to "join" them or become a patreon to find out what happened.

Solent Boat Butler is my favourite.

Sailing Cadoha was fun for a while, but they started to get a little arty with the photography - it was better when it was a bit more raw. They've stopped sailing now.

Sailing a Contessa 26 is nice to watch. But then I'd like a Contessa 26.

I don’t want to spoil it for you but they sold their boat and gave up sailing. Dom has a separate channel for his walking/camping, although it seems largely an avenue to get products and promote them to me. Still fun to watch and he presents and edits well

Yes I'd heard. Had a child with health problems I think. Sad, but obviously the right decision for them. Nice people.

I met Dom at the Royal Southern last year. They asked him to come and speak at an annual cruisers dinner but when he arrived and realised the calibre of sailors in his audience, he shied away from standing up and instead did a mix and mingle. Which was a shame as I think he did a lot introducing sailing to a younger generation.

They had the same issue we have. We’re not out there sailing, we’re out there cruising. If you want to see places that involves a lot more motoring than you’d like. If you want your home with you that also involves less exciting sailing conditions. The result is that you end up not being all that much of a sailor so I can see why he may not have wanted to be on a pedestal in front of a sailing/racing crowd.
Half of our videos have me explaining why we’re motoring again and the other half are me explaining why we’re in a marina with 40kt gusts.

A shame really. He may not have the sailing experience of a lot of racers but I like the fact that he's not afraid to get his hands dirty and roll up his sleeves and tackle replacing the sail drive diaphragm for example which, whilst not exactly sailing as you say, shows self reliance which is what cruising is to me. I suspect quite of few of the racers wouldn't entertain the idea though I may be doing them a disservice.

For me, who is looking to spend up to £50k this winter on our first boat (a share doesn't count) I liked watching his struggles with boat maintenance and I think he'd have a lot to talk about at an annual dinner.

His boat was still for sale last time I looked (a little too big for us).

Ironic, because they probably invited him to talk because he wasn't an amazing sailor with talk of round the world solo epics or America's Cup campaigns... but was a fairly down-to-earth guy who had done something most of them have not - quit working life to start a YouTube channel to fund a fairly unsensational cruising life. He's a good storyteller, not an amazing sailor, and I know which I would rather listen to with my after-dinner coffee! They also haven't been "that" successful at it, still needing to work odd jobs to fund the lifestyle - again, that's interesting to me rather than those who have become epics. I noticed Carly took much more of a back seat (long before she was pregnant), and hearing any insight on why that was would also have been interesting - I wonder, for example, if the comments section of a YouTube channel is not a healthy place. I got a bit bored with their channel, but I absolutely would have gone to see him talk about the highs and lows of that journey rather than listen to someone explain how tough life was at the top of the racing world.
