You lot are so wealthy!

Where are you in Majorca as my quotes over in Majorca are scary!

We're in Port Adriano, which I'm well aware is now one of the most expensive marinas on the island, but I bought the mooring lease 10 years ago(before the extension to the marina was announced),so the mooring costs are not too bad compared to renting it yearly.

Dunno about that - fairly limited market for my boat I imagine.
In the scheme of things the enjoyment is worth it even if I effectively wrote the value off.
I expect to keep her 10 years and don't expect much back after that
Couldn't agree more.
The trick with boats is NOT to look at the depreciation in %, 'cause that's always eye-watering, no matter how low the initial investment can be.
What really matters is the depreciation in absolute values, at the end of the day.
And there's no such thing as a direct correlation between the amount invested and the actual enjoyment! :encouragement:

Well I will be paying £600 for a swinging mooring for 6 months. I have applied for a fairways mooring and if I can get that it will be £95 a year. This is in the cold old UK though and only a 19 foot sports cruiser

Sub let. I'm still moving out of SCM at the end of the summer though to continue my journey West, despite it being such good value.

My annual budget is always more than I tell the SWMBO it is

And you think she doesn't know!
She does now. After 25 yrs of keeping the true cost of our boating from her, I made a fatal error recently. I left my computer open on the saloon table with the invoice from the boatyard for all of the winter work I'd had done on our boat. She went ballistic demanding to know why if I could afford to spend that amount every year on my toy, why couldn't I spend a similar amount on our house. She's currently researching new carpets and curtains. Can a set of curtains for one window really cost £4k?

Anyway lesson learnt. When it comes to concealing boating costs, be forever vigilant

In the MDL Marina at Sant Carles (with Hurricane and a few others). To be fair my berth is a sublet, though I think verths direct through MDL would still be in the £4-5k region for 15m.

I was quoted 5140e for a 12m pontoon berth at SCM. If you have any contacts please pm me! I was looking to buy a 33' to 36' something in the Med but the overall cost of marina and transport to SCM put me off.

I'm still looking for the boat that grabs me but the search now is in the UK. I have narrowed it down to the Targa 34 or S34 (with the bigger engines option).

It would be nice to be based in the Med but the marina fee saving has to make it worthwhile.

A little comparison with E-Med:

I am in Greece in Preveza at the moment. I pay now around €3000 a year, which includes two lift-out + power wash and storage on land for 15m. Would I be in the water all year around in Corfu or Levkas, it would be around €6000 a year. If I want to visit the boat in the winter, I need to fly into Thessaloniki or Athens and drive all the way to the Ionian.

In Croatia, Milna or Skradin its around €5000 a year. Milna is on an island. Skradin is fresh water, count about one hour to the open sea. In both cases, very few flights in the winter to surrounding airports.

There are lots of marinas in the N-Adriatic, around Venice. There it starts with €3000-4000 a year. All year around flights, Croatia being not that far away.

Genus Marine have a couple of 12m berths available for €2900, or €3200 including electricity and water.

List of SCM berths here http://www.marineonline.co.uk/acatalog/sant_carles_marina_-_Berths_for_rent.html

As for transport, why not buy something out there? Plenty of 10m sports cruisers already in Spain for sensible money.

Here is a D4 powered 2006 S34 for £90k http://www.inautia.com/used-boat-63408030161054495451525250534570.html

Or here is a 2004 T34 asking just north of £100k http://www.inautia.com/used-boat-35433010151351995051561005550455.html

That's a great link thanks!

It puts owning a boat in Spain back on the list!

Yes, I have looked at buying in Spain, (I meant the transport costs is for family to get to SCM from Cornwall). It's now back to a search on theyachtmarket for the 33 to 36'.
