Quite agree, tcm. Our first boat was rated for a 40hp, but some idiot had hung a 60 on the back. Went like stink, and never caused a problem, but the tender is all bendy and much more susceptible to where the weight is. It feels a lot happier sitting right forward. I'm not sure even I would be happy with 40kg hanging off the transom...

Did the diesel powered supersoaker count as one of your 'v sensible' ideas, btw?

I was hoping you had forgotten that. Nonetheless, the diesel powered supersoaker was fabulous and highly recommended. I can do similar but not quite as effective with the bilge pump on current boat, where various valves have to be switched and a crappy foldy pipe used to hah put out fires but it would have to be fire on another boat 30 yards away, cos otherwise the pipe kinks and nio water comes out

Cheapo tiller extension. Beg, borrow or liberate a short length of Pvc waste pipe of the right diameter to fit over your tiller. If it's a bit slack you can cut a slit down the length of it and put a Jubilee clip on or build up you tiller with some self-amalgamating tape. Sounds gash, but works a treat.

Bill.
