Those are the rules now, England unlocks on the 12th April for overnight stays and I think that for Scotland it is the 5th April, Wales is imminently due to make an announcement.

Sadly Scots likely to remain in shackles well after 5th April. There is no indicative date yet for staying on board in Scotland - some have suggested late June! Even travel within Scotland to a boat (except for essential maintenance), unless live in same local authority, is currently indicated as not allowed before late May. Might change if SNP think their vote is at risk in the May elections.

(Though a bit of essential maintenance resulting in needing to test the engine, which then fails and causes the boat to sadly drift into English waters would be to be regretted :)

  • From March 27 - the 'stay local' message ends and people will be allowed to travel anywhere in Wales. Self-contained holiday accommodation will be allowed to open in time for the Easter holidays
From the Telegraph.

so it looks like Wales is open from the 27th, fingers crossed. They say they hope to re-open guest accommodation in time for Easter.

If a certain welsh "Green" baroness had her way all males would be locked up from 6PM until 6AM the following day So you would have to sleep on board overnight anyway. Unless it is false news ( possible) It would seem that, at one point, the Welsh first minister was said to agree. Personally I think the pair of them should be locked up for good.

Thanks for useful info

Is there still an overnight curfew for driving?

We transit France when travelling Portugal to UK.

Is it permitted to visit France to stay with Friends yet ( our 83yr old friend in Brittany has been seriously ill for over 12 months now but after opp is slowly recovering - mostly muscle wastage due to being bedridden)?

Any idea when it would be possible to visit and stay with them? We usually do this for 4-5 days when transiting France but could extend it to 7 days and use their address as isolation address

Sorry, but I'm not really qualified to answer the fine detail....

I would actually contact the French embassy, I've found them quite helpful and you should get a definitive answer

If you look at the French gov website there are a number of 'reasons' you can avoid the curfew, transiting may be one of them, there also travel exemptions for health but whether or not your friend is covered I don't know.

Press conference this afternoon at 1900h French time, new lockdown measures will be announced for all the Paris + NE France area: it might be the whole week or weekends only; it is very likely the rest of the Country especially the West will not be affected by these new measures.
