I'll hopefully be off soon not for a holiday but for an absolutely 'essential business (delivery) trip' although I do in any event have a ferry booked for May 18th. My big concern is that the various easing of restrictions might fail and if I don't get the boat back asap while I can she might even be stuck there past December and I run into VAT issues as she's currently counted as VAT paid in the EU. I also have a new UK mooring signed and paid for back here starting next month.
I have sadly decided, as I finally get to a stage in life where I would have been able to spend 6 months or more onboard, to bring the boat back to the UK thanks to the brexit disaster (IMHO of course... other opinions are available )

Nonsense, Lightwave is in Cowes so not part of a devolved nation. Cowes will almost certainly remain in the United Kingdom of England. At least until the IoW realise they could be an offshore tax haven like IoM...
I did my census form today, thought about ticking the 'other' box and calling myself 'isle of wightish' but I'm an immigrant here...

Just have to wait for the UK devolved nations to lift it's their travel bans now.
There, I fixed that for you.

Maybe you were right. Doesn't look like you'll be going anywhere in the near future.

UK cases keep falling apart from in Scotland and NI

That is a classic misleading headline - not helped by the way they flip flop the headline statistics between cases per 100k (where a low number is goo) and 1 case in N people (where a high number is good)!

So below the headline the stats quoted are
The ONS results, based on tests from people whether or not they had symptoms, show:
  • In England, one in 270 had coronavirus (compared with one in 220 the week before)
  • In Northern Ireland, it is one in 310 (compared with one in 325 previously)
  • In Wales, it is one in 365 (compared with one in 285)
  • In Scotland, it is one in 320 (compared with one in 335)
So Wales is currently in the best place, Scotland next best, then Ni and England in the worst place .

However, no matter what the stats are, you are probably correct that the Scottish Government trusts its citizens less than any others.
Hence yes likely to be able to visit boats in France before being allowed to access boats in Scotland.

I don't thinkthe not traveling abroad means Scotland or Wales, I am pretty sure that sailing between the different parts of the UK is allowed.

"Travel between Scotland and the rest of the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man
Under current Scottish law, given the state of the epidemic, unless you have a reasonable excuse (see exceptions) you must not travel between Scotland and:
  • England
  • Northern Ireland
  • Wales
  • Republic of Ireland
  • Jersey
  • Guernsey
  • The Isle of Man "
I'd hazard a guess that going for a sail may not be a reasonable excuse.

Those are the rules now, England unlocks on the 12th April for overnight stays and I think that for Scotland it is the 5th April, Wales is imminently due to make an announcement.
