I've bought a new boat.

Three weeks ago I was in Fowey and fell in love with a Dazcat 10 called Belladonna (I know, but you can't change a given name). Yesterday I signed on teh dotted line and bought her.

I am now the very proud and excited owner of a high performance cruising cat capable of over 15 knots in a moderate breeze. Wow!

(Stands back and waits for the traditionalist brickbats and expressions of sympathy for loss of marbles, etc)

Just remember that when you broach in a cat you stay broached - you do not come the right way up. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now for the harder bit.

Cut the handle off your toothbrush. Go on a diet. But whatever you do keep the weight down! - or you'll be plodding along like a half-boat!

SWMBO is normally the brake on my more extravagant flights of fancy but on this occasion she was leading from the front. She loves her as much as I do - and for the first time actually enjoys taking the helm.

I didn't know Bill was looking at cats, but I am not surprised as he has spent most of the last three months sitting on the bottom in one harbour or another in his Southerly

Congrats James, looks a stunning boat. Have fun and lots of blasts. And just remember if you suddenly get overpowered just flatten right off and run with it and hope the bows have sufficient buoyancy!

Did you test sail any other boats before deciding on this one? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Congratulations!

Ah, one of those double ones...

...as my three year old puts it.

Does it have a barbeque on the porch?

No, seriously, looks like a nice boat.

James

I think you should have tried out a few other boats before making such a rash decision!

You're obviously going through a mid-life crisis.

Enjoy it.

What battle? Monohull boats lost this a long time ago, its just that traditionalists havent allowed that to percolate through yet!
