ybw weather data

Does anyone know if ybw are intending to 'repair' the weather data facility. I used to use that very often to get a quick history of wind strength/direction and haven't found another site that is close enough to Helford or coastal enough. I have emailed Keith a few weeks ago, but haven't heard anything to date.

Anyone else know any more, or alternatively a reliable site for the area that could be used? (I have looked in metcheck, weatheronline and xcweather, but they seem to be further away and not as close/accurate as I would like.

as a start point i use bbc homepage with penryn as my location, you can then by using bbc weather pages continue to interrogate the pages as much as you want. I live on north coast and have found a mixture of experience, mk1 eyeball, spotlight and bbc give me a very good idea of inshore conditions on your side

Try www.windguru.cz (I think that's the correct web address but if not just google 'windguru') A windsurfing colleague of mine say that he and all his friends use it. Just select the UK then choose the closest place to you (I found Coverack - is that close?) Worth a try. Hope this helps.

Coverack - yes just round the corner, approx 3nm or so.

Another good feature of windguru is that they have a plug in for Google Earth which shows the location of their forecasts - click on one and up pops the relevant webpage. Useful if you don't know any of the local place names.

I have all those wind guru etc sites but they are not as useful as the actual by the minute data from the marina that I used to be able to get from YBW. Saves setting off on the 40 mile journey if I know its blowing down there.

So any news on when its likely to be repaired YBW?

Yes,

This is taking much longer than I anticipated. I was told I'd have a great new feed live in a fortnight (was told this six weeks ago). We are working on it, but at the moment are limited to the shipping forecast and the tide times.
