You either are smarter or simply have more experience than I !
I'm just informing the commmunity of my own experience with this yard that I would definitvely not recommend, nothing else.
In my opinion, your comment does not reflect the spirit which should gather our sailor community,

regards,

What astounds me is that people moan and groan about costs but don't seem prepared to get down and dirty and DIY as if it's beneath them to carry out artisan type work. If you can't do it yourself then learn and if you don't want to learn 'cos it's beneath you then put up and shut up.

Whaou, you should spend more time on your boat and relax, your anger is not good for your health !
You don't know who am I, and even though, you should stay correct, and not insulting.
To close the matter, I just hope never anchor next to you, I don't like agressive people but moreso, your agressivement is totaly irrelevant in such a place, and for such a discussion.

Obviously touched a nerve then since you took it personally. Not aggressive just a wind-up. BTW what's agressivement that's not in my dictionary??

Congratulations on your English Phiphi56. Thanks for your input. Would like to see Keithdgd respond in your native tongue! Why do people find it necessary to be so unpleasant on this forum? Inferiority complex?

S'il vous plaît ne pas supposer que je parle seulement anglais. This is French as Phillipe will tell you.

You were talking about Yatlift and then moved your comments to Bodrum Marina. Which is a very expensive place. Some time ago I posted regarding an alternative to Bodrum Marina..to wit Bodrum community marina which is located in the harbour and is very reasonably priced. Not such good facilities but you get what you pay for.If this is not in the "spirit "I don't know what is.
As I said ,our experience of Yatlift is different from yours.

Incidentally,Yatlift is carrying out a major reorganisation at the lifting area..the old bay is being replaced by a large more sheltered construction, and it seems the office block is o be relocated to another part of the yard. They have bought a massive new travelift as well as a large new hydraulic trailer . All should be finished by the beginning of the season.
I had a look at the plans last year and it looks very impressive.

In hopes this might help just one owner or inform someone considering this yard.

Sort of like our presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, who President Obama has accurately labeled all his position changes & reversals, “Romnesia”.;)
It happens at Yat Lift too.:(

OH -- you mean like if you like your health insurance you can keep it - or if you like your doctor you can keep it -- you mean like that

one thing we learned early on -- get it in writing and stay and watch the work and do your own supervision -- if you do not you are the only one to blame

If they redo the lift/launch bay I would consider going back there to avoid the Greek tax but that lift area is a nightmare to get in to.
The usual afternoon hooley and long fetch coupled with the fact that the yard guys ask for boats to be reversed in makes that bay potentially dangerous after 12pm IMO.
I saw a French long keeler take 5 or 6 attempts to reverse his bucking bronko in there last year and I was amazed that he eventually managed it unscathed.
We got away with it because of a relatively quiet 10am lift out

Thank you for your comment ! I appreciate and must confess, as this is my first experience on an british forum, that I serioulsly questionned myself about what sort of people are here and wondered if I had been right in sharing my experience. I respect very much british sailors, and thanks god, your input demonstrate that my input might be usefull for some.

The question is not about the facility but the louzy work the do, for the one they choose to pick up among the "to do" list you give them. Mustapha says yes to all your requests but does only what he decides. I'm just coming back from a week of work on my boat in greece and we have been able to remove parts from the swing keel, that yatlift 2 season in a raw have not been able to fix, being meanwhile charged of course for the labor. Again, 80% of the work completed was not correctly done. Last example: The electrician last week discovered that the 4th battery we asked to connect was not correctly done, one cable was missing resulting in the use of 2 of the 4 batteries. Serioulsly, run away from this yard or at least don't give them any work to do.
I probalby expressed myself not crrectly concerning the Bodrum marina price. This was just to emphasize that we felt turky is whatsoever an expensive country.
