Yarmouth closed on Monday

I think the OP was looking for quality dining on the island perhaps as opposed to the corner shop grub beloved by grockles. I wonder if you can do deliveries by Waitrose from east cowes to Yarmouth marina? We haven’t tried it for Bembridge marina but they get to Seaview.

Last visit we ate at La Cucina opposite the chippy, we had pre-dinner drink in the Terrace bar, very pricey but enjoyable. On arrival we made a beeline to La Cucina only to find it closed, as in shut down; shame. The Terrace was turn up and we may get you in. On the Rocks was booked, anyway a bit gimmicky for me.
Fine dining was limited to the Bugle, which put a new meaning to the word average.

We just have to get used to far fewer restaurants than we’ve got used to since the expansion started a few decades ago. The pool of staff willing to work for the current pay just isn’t available any more.

Fine dining places will be ok because they can substantially increase pay and fast food places will be ok because they can automate even more and serve more lots of customers per staff member. That squeezes everything in between so the high street restaurant or local pub serving food will often just close.

Well speaking of dining on the island I’m now invited to try out the North House in Cowes menu so will see how that measures up. Normally it’s Coast in Cowes or chips etc in the cabin.

I hear North House is very nice, but not tried it.

Coast was disappointing.

Gastronomy hopeless.

There's a place opposite ISC people rave about. Forgotten the name.

With a few chums we go to Cowes Tandoori occasionally. Nice enough.

Bahar tandoori not so nice.

I used to like Mojacs very much, but not been for years.

Murrays I didnt think much of.

I like Red Duster.

No3 very nice. Salted Caramel ice cream to die for.

Never tried the Italian on the hill.

Yarmouth I like Blue Crab and Off the Rails.

Elsewhere Blacksmiths Arms and Highdown Inn are good.

Spinkies in Ventnor is good as a cafe.

Bonchurch Inn wonderfull.

Pub jn Newport that does liver and bacon nom nom nom....

Totland chippy is good, eat it down on the beach.

You cant possibly get stuck for food in Yarmouth.
You can if there's something on. After several years trying to buy a sausage or four for the Gaffers' BBQ, to hear in the shops "oh, no, there's been a rush on...." we started bringing our own. The point is the event happened on the same Thursday every year, but the retailers of Yarmouth couldn't seem to make the connection.
