This may or may not be a silly question because I'm fairly new to this. Does anyone know if said engine has a sacrificial anode? Handbook refers to a zinc plate on top of the engine but I can't tell from the diagram where it is on the engine and I have had a look at the engine and can't see anything that looks like its doing any sacrificing apart from a couple of very rusty jubilee clips which I have replaced.
Any help?
Thanks Ian .

On top of the block between the lifting ring and the thermostat housing should be a largish bolthead (about 25-30mm by memory). Undo this and there should be an anode on the end of it.

Note that it is a square bolt head (originally had a label on it) - It is possible that is not next to the lifting and may be on font or back of the cylinder block as there were several variants of the engine

Thanks for all advice
I have found the anode It was right next to the lifting eye, I didn't realise it would be screwed in under the large square nut
