Yanmar water pump

The salt water pump on my Yanmar 30F is leaking. The Yanmar parts are terribly expensive. Any suggestions where to obtain parts at a reasonable price, or other solutions?.

where is it leaking from and have you stripped it ...most pumps can be reconditioned for about £20

I found them very helpful in identifying my pump and supplying me with a seal kit at a very readonable cost.

Its usually the seals and bearing that need replacing - your best bet is to have it re-machined (to get rid of the external score marks), reverse the face-plate and rebuild it with the seal/bearing kit from Yanmar.

if it is the seals and bearings that you have to replace ..they are both standard engineering componants and are widely available for about 1/3 of Yanmar prices!!!

look in your yellow pages!

dont even buy the rear plate packing gasket from Yanmar (its£2.50) MAKE ONE YOURSELF, its only thick paper!
