Yanmar 1GM10 oil removal question

is it simply a question of unscrewing the sump nut and then pulling the filter out or are there other things to do ?

Hi Did you have a look at the pics of my sump mod #16, there are 2 links you will be able to see the internal arrangement of the sump filter, I think the engaging of the filter into the internal rear seal retainer is what give people grief and on occasion have lost the strainer inside the sump ! because I had access to remove sump anyway decided to do the mod so am able to drop the oil & leave it draining pretty much completely now without disturbing the strainer or buggering about with extractor pump suits me !

The 2GM20 has a place in the sump casting for a drain, so while it was off, I drilled and tapped it for one. Might come in handy.

What made it easier, was that I already had a kit (£15) for enlarging the size of drain plugs in steps after a friend stripped his in a Discovery. He thought he was facing a new sump and hassle of fitting.
