I was lucky to look around the Enterprise, (a long time ago), and it was the most unbelievable experience. Racial segregation, armed guard for the 1st LT and graffiti....bit of a culture shock!
my father served on the USS Randolph in the vietnam era, he maintained that there were sections of the ship that senior officers woulod not venture into without an armed guard and that there were ghettos on the ship.
According to Navaltoday.comDoes anyone know what time she's due in tomorrow ? I'm in Southsea Marina right now, and tempted to stay on board another night to see her come in... Looking at the tides, I'd guess she'll be through the forts by 1130 ish ??
USS Theodore Roosevelt will anchor off Stokes Bay near Gosport on Sunday at 5pm and the USS Winston S Churchill arrives at Portsmouth Naval Base at approximately 1.30pm. Both will leave Portsmouth on March 27.
