Yamaha Malta Outboard STOLEN :(

Had my Yamaha Malta stolen from the garden shed in Peterborough today it would appear to be a random burglary so the culprit may not have much idea how to shift it. I am able to identify it (won't explain here of course) but I would be very grateful if folks could keep an eye out.

For that reason mine is self insured as is the inflatable

A very long time ago, we had an outboard nicked from our caravan in Dunbar (Dad also kept a boat there). We had a partial serial number, which was advertised on the local police radio show and in the press. Lo and Behold, a day or two later the outboard mysteriously reappeared next to the caravan! We reckon that the simple act of making it clear that it could be identified scared the tea-leaves, or made them realise that it was too hot to handle. YMMV!

Well, you never know - they might regard it as useful information gathering!

However, in our case, it was publicised by the police through the local press. It was also something like 50 years ago!

Had a similiar experience at work a good few years ago. A laptop went missing and after we mentioned that the electronic records of who entered and left the offices over the previous few evenings were going to be reviewed, it re-appeared in a cupboard that had definitely been checked previously.
