Suggested myths could be:-
Fin keel are faster than bilge keel
Paralleling good and duff batteries drops the voltage of the good one
Eberspachers are unreliable
and (apologies to Dylan) 4 nightlights can heat a small boat.

Being comfortable in a boat is unseamanlike and probably irresponsible.

The only way to be comfortable in a boat is to buy a modern wide-arsed floating caravan and stay in the marina whenever it blows a bit.

Prior to the course your navigation skills should be at the standard of the Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore shorebased course.

Apart from the fact, that only a certificate can actually prove " at the standard of", who ever said " have completed"?

All corporate sunsail skippers are qualified, competent and polite. They always give plenty of sea room to old blokes in small slow boats.

The cert is for "attendance", not acquiring "the standard of".
