I did not know that YM was getting a new editor until I read the posting from Snooks

here is your chance.....

what sort of skills do they need?

What sort of experience do they need?

Any gender preferences?

Do they actually need to be a boat owner or is just being a keen flotillerist enough?

Rumour has it that there is a Frenchman in the short list - is this a good idea?

is it inevitable that it will be a deep pocketed Solentist with a deep keel 30 footer?

Or maybe they should just wheel in a spread sheet jocket from Caterer and Hotelkeeper who really understands how to be nice to advertisers?

Do you have any advice for the new Editor

and finally nominations.......

I am putting Dame Ellen up for the job because I think that we need to to be able to appreciate the emotional side of sailing tinged with a bit of steel.

but there are others ....Goss, Snooks or Griff?

In academia, the board would draw up a shortlist then the candidates would give a lecture (presentation) to everyone and the decision is made on how well they did and what everyone thinks of them. Give all the candidates an anonymous SB identity and a week to make an impression on the forums. Or start an ensign/anchor/seahorse/global warming thread and rate them on their contributions. That should sort the men from the boys.

Er maybe leisure sailing journalism, extensive sailing experience in a wide variety of contexts?

Any gender preferences?

'ang on a minute....Just to make it perfectly clear, I'm not the breaker of this news

You should have read the post from James Jermain on the page before where he said "I wouldn't like to think of Paul easing into retirement next year without full credit"

It was also on Twitter (@ipcmediajobs) on Oct 26th....So it's old news really :)

Quite obviously, any serious candidate would have to be gorgeous crumpet, ( female ) an Oliver Lee fan, preferably with a burning desire to sail - and regard as a benchmark - an Anderson 22...:)

Dylan

We have a saying here... "there's no news like recycled news!"

Another appropriate slightly adapted saying might be...

"If it happens at IPC, its news to us...."

In order to balance the ethnic and social mix in the IPC management the new candidate needs to be an Asian woman with a meja studies degree and **** all knowledge of yachts or maritime matters.
Probably best to look for such a candidate with a physical handicap as well.

A rabid feminist will be given preference.

I vote for Dick Durham.

A steady hand on the tiller and always good company in the Guinness tent :D

He did an article about some second hand yacht...about 45 foot .....in bloody old working boots that I would use for gardening!!!!!!!I think standards ought to be maintained.

Dicks probably too busy now. I took the kids to see Arthur Christmas and noticed Dick was playing Grandad Santa. :D
